Guages going berzerk

I have 2005 F350 6L, As I am driving at least once a day, all guages and the stereo, but not the heater, will shut off and then come back within a few split seconds, and I hear a click as it happens. The motor never skips a beat. I am thinking its a relay. Any suggestions?? Or any idea which relay it might be? Thanks guys.
Eric

???????? It does sound like maybe a relay, They should be labeled in the owners manual. I had a old 86 150 that did something like this, the tach, spedometer and other gauges would all peg and then relax. ? i got rid of it before i got it figured out. good luck

I have the same problem. Gauges peg, hear a click and then they go out. They come back on a minute or two later. also, the radio and headlights go out too. If it's the alternator, wouldn't the batteries just go dead. Unless this is how the alternator behaves when it's on it's way out. I cleaned the battery cables at the battery. Could it be a loose ground or a wire shorting out somewhere? Are there other connections that need to be cleaned? Is there a way to check the alternator when it's an intermmitant problem?
