Sound after EGR Cooler Delete
While traveling on the Interstate my EGR Cooler went out and I had to locate a shop to put a delete kit on rather than taking it to a dealer who would replace it, I'm out of warranty.
At any case, truck is running fine but when I let off the pedal there is a gas discharge sound. Don't know if this is normal but I haven't read about this anywhere and I have read quite about the EGR cooler delete. They test drove it and said it all was good so??? Thanks for entertaining possibly a dim question ![]()

Not WOT but under power...the more the power and the more the sudden let off then the more the Gas sound....maybe a fart sound, kind of like an air brake sound (or what I thought was an air brake sound) on a rig at a stop. gradual let off = no sound I noticed it the most when the cruise was on going up an incline then hitting the brake to take off the cruise. I very rarely am on it WOT...don't know when the last time I was there. going to drive it again and report back.

I bet it only does it when it's cold or has been shut down for a few hours than fired back up. That is what everyone is saying is a turbo fart but it actually is the computer compensating for the cold engine. Basically the same as a choke on a carberated engine. Maybe this is the first time you noticed it but I bet it use to happen before as well but you didn't notice it. I use to here it before, than I did the egr delete and it seemed like it was much more pronounced. Anyways just drive it and enjoy it, remember it still is a dirty diesel. These things would run till they cratered if they never had so much electronics hooked to them |
