Our 2005 F250 6.0 diesel with only 60,000 miles died on us - we noticed the last few times we drove it, it was off a bit, little surging here and there. This time we pulled away from a stop sign and it died completely. It restarted and as we were limping it home at every stop light the idle was surging, then as we were driving we lost the gas pedal, but truck was still idling. Pulled out our tester- no codes thrown.
Had it towed home.
The next morning... Started the truck, gas pedal worked... No codes were thrown.
First thing we check was the battery connections - perfect shape - then checked the FICM -48 volts with key on.
I should add EGR is in great shape
Cleaned the exhaust back pressure valve which was clean and no clog in line
We are thinking ICP sensor and/or IPR valve???????

Only had one issue with truck since we bought it new... Cracked intercooler at 25,000 miles, covered under warranty.

Thanks!!!

yes, absolutely. my first thought is icp sensor/pigtail as well. try lightly wiggling the connector koer. see if you can induce the symptom. this fault doesn't always throw a code. or sometimes only a manufacturer specific code. always need to scan with a device capable of viewing them. you guys that aren't, you're really really limited

After reading forum after forum... We played with the ICP last night and checked a few other things... Cleaned the exhaust pressure valve and tube. Also moved the FICM wires around a bit too. Took apart the air filter system, cleaned it. Started it tonight, ran another scan... Came up with no codes again, but we noticed the truck was running smoother and no rpm going up and down. We did not drive it however, will drive into town tomorrow and if it makes it get the scan run at the mechanics shop.
Thanks for answering
