Driving down the highway and truck just cuts out. I didn't hear any noise. Went to start again and glow plug light stays on and I usually hear the glow plugs doing their thing and I can't anymore. Got the truck towed back to my house. Changed the batteries out and a new alternator. Not sure what to do next. Any help is much appreciated.
Hearing the injectors you mean? You need a monitor to be able to troubleshoot this. Grab a scangauge 2 at autozone they're pretty cheap. $160 or so. If you don't hear your injectors buzzing anymore it could be the FICM. Get a monitor and check your FICM volts key on engine off and while cranking. Check for codes as well. The scangauge is ok for pulling codes but you may need a better code reader if it doesn't show any. You also need to look at ICP, ICPv, and IPR% koeo and while cranking. If you turn the key on listen under the truck to see if you can hear your fuel pump as well
It stays on for a little while. Idk the exact amount of time but just turn the key on and lean down under the drivers side door. It's on the frame rail right there. You'll be able to tell whether or not it's working right away
Ok so it's at least working. You won't know how well unless you can check fuel pressure. Get a monitor and check for codes and look at the values I posted earlier. If you have android you can get the torque pro app and a Bluetooth obd device, that's the cheapest. Otherwise scangauge is the next cheapest
