I think it is all international and their subsidiaries and vendors, but I am not 100% sure. I know technically the powerstroke name is Fords.

Navistar International Corporation designed and builds the powerstroke engine for ford, but ford redid the electronics on the engine, for instance the new 6.4L PSD ford has trouble with them and international runs the same engine except with the international electronics and never had any problems with the diesel.just some info i got from a diesel mechanic..hope this helps

to expand upon all this.....Yes the motor and everything on it was designed and built by international and or its contracted vendors...BUT as is said in the quote above, the software is fords. So the hard part problems (egr coolers, head gaskets, oil coolers, injectors) are design flaws from international or the contracted vendor, but all the software problems are basically on ford......

So Marc why doesn't international foot the bill for the 6.0 issues?

Ford is trying. That was the reason shipment was stopped on the 6.4.
Ford wanted more warranty money so they withheld payment on the 6.4 engine. IH says "no-no" and stops shipping the new 6.4 to Ford just after the launch of the 08 Superduty.

to anwser your question a custormer of mine was in the shop and he was telling me of his unlce who bought a 6.4L PSD not sure what size truck, but with a little over 1k miles he had a engine failure so he took the truck back to the dealer and they gave him a new one to drive and the same thing only with 400+ miles on the truck so they gave him the third truck and he has 600+ miles on the truck with no problems so far..not sure if this is a isolated problem or if this is a disease for ford..just one mans experience..ps he is a little gun shy after that, but still wouldn't drive any thing but a ford
engine failure=blow engine

thanks marc for straightning me out there..and the additional info
