Coolant Loss

I know...another issue with coolant loss Had the truck in a couple of months ago because I have to add coolant to the bottle. Ford did a pressure test and said everything checked out. Yesterday I'm leaving work and notice a big puddle of coolant under RH side on ground in the area of the rear exhaust manifold. Looked under truck and it appears to be running on top of the starter and then hitting the ground. Am I looking at EGR cooler problems or something else? Truck doesn't puke, doesn't overheat, no smoke but have to add coolant. It is in the shop right now but just wanted to know what you guys thought.

Thanks,

Did you check the heater core hoses, maybe one is leaking, usually if your egr cooler is going your truck will show other signs, as in you will have oil in the coolant or coolant in your oil. Truck runs rough or ineffiecently. I would look around under the hood before spending alot of money, try to pin poin the location of the leak. Check the heater hoses, check the heater core, check the coolant lines to the egr cooler, check the oil cooler. I am sure you can find the location of the leak then we can get it fixed for you. By the way how many miles are on the truck. Is it still under warranty, like I tell everyone else if the truck is under warranty which you are paying for anyways by purchasing the truck. Let the dealer fix it, if you don't like what the dealership is telling you then go to a different dealership near your house.

the small orange egr cooler to oil cooler hose is leaking ,replaced a hundred of them ,the reason they didnt find it is most of them dont do enough diesel work to know the comon problems ,and also the coolant burns off most of the time before it hits the ground ,been down this road plenty of times id put money on it

I checked all I could last night but it was dark. Doesn't appear to be heater core or hoses but again I could not find exactly where it was leaking. I do have the dark stain in the bottle (maybe oil mixed with it). I couldn't tell from the puddle if oil was mixed with it, appeared to be just coolant. Didn't leak another drop all night so it was difficult to find. I just found wet spots here and there. Truck runs the same though, no noticeable difference. I have about 52000 miles on the clock so hopefully it should be covered under warranty.

take a flashlight and look right in front of the turbo just to the left of the oil filter and youll see a orange hose right under the turbo pedestal, there will probably be a white film all around that hose and down the valley of the engine

Thanks guys. I found another post about the egr cooler hose that seemed to fit my scenario so hopefully thats all it is and should be covered. I'll let you know what Ford tells me.

I did notice the white film there and down the engine so I knew it had to be coming from somewhere near there but couldn't actually see any coolant coming out anywhere after the fact. As said, it didn't leak any more all night. Put another gallon of coolant in this morning before I took it in and again no visible signs of leaking and no puddle.

Well, dealer called and said egr cooler, egr cooler hose, and oil cooler. They said it was about a 11-12 hour job. Sound right? Hope to have it back tomorrow.
