SCT cold weather issues?

Ok, a little background. I run my truck on the street tune w/ cold fix pretty much all the time. The other night on my drive home from work I was cruising along about 60mph. Made a right hand turn on to the highway and decided to punch it a bit. To my surprise the engine seemed to bog down a bit. It gained speed, but nothing like it should, you know? RPM's would only get to about 3 grand, maybe a bit higher, but not much. Seemed like the truck was overloaded all of a sudden. Normally when I hit it like that it screams and pulls like a freight train!!! It should be noted that the truck was plenty warmed up. My water temp was upper 180's, tranny about 145 deg, but the temp outside was a bitter -5 deg, with a 20 mile an hour wind... Butt cold! Kept getting on it and letting off for a couple of miles, finally pulled over, got out the tuner and returned it to stock. Problem went away, she ran fine the rest of the way home. I'll have to call DJ's and see if there's anything they can do with the cold fix on my tunes to improve the drivability when it gets this cold out. Just wondering if anybody else has seen this kind of problem out of your truck, if you run the SCT. Doesn't matter who you got your tunes from, just curious to see if I'm the only one... When I get it figured out, I'll post back and let you all know if its fixed or not... Wish me luck!

Hi Kurt,

Any file with a cold fix will lose horsepower. The cold fix helps you start better on cold mornings but the parameters needed do reduce the power of the tune. If you feel anything else or have any other questions, please let us know.

Thanks,
Vivian

Vivian, he is saying that it bogged down on him. He pushed the go pedal and she said WOOO!

I live near Pittsburgh, Pa. and its been very cold here the last couple weeks. Mornings are about 2 degrees, and mid day only gets up to about 12 or 13. I haven't even thought about it till I saw this post, but my truck is always loaded for bear. I don't have any kind of cold fix. Its parked outside, but its plugged in.

I'm sure DJ will fix you up if you call him.

Right you are Patrick... Vivian, when I got on the throttle it was like somebody stuck a potato in the intake tube. It was like the engine tried to open up but just couldn't? I'm trying to do the best I can to explain, but to put it simply if I was racing a 3.0L Ranger, I'd have lost that one hands down... I've had the tune in it for a couple of months now and this is the first time I've noticed anything funny, and like I said it was butt cold, but its been this cold for about a week and a half now and this is the first I've noticed it. I'll try to give you a call tomorrow as its my day off and we'll see if we can figure something out. Maybe I can give you a better idea of what I'm talking about.

BTW I don't plug the truck in at night, I'm blessed with a heated garage. Nothing like stepping out your door and in to a half way warm truck!

You know, I have the ID sct tunes and on a rare occasion my truck will develop a hicup. Random stuff like tranny shifting funny, never throws a code though. I've found that deprograming and reprogramming usually fixes things, sometimes with a day's worth of driving it stock just to make sure everything is ok.
