What scanner to get?

I am thinking about installing a scanner in my truck to listen to fire, police, municipal, highway department, etc. bands. I don't know to much about them, but some people have told me that buying a typical scanner like one from Uniden or Radio Shack won't be very useful. They said that most public services use digital signals instead of analog nowadays? Is this true? What scanner would be a good one to get? Also, post some pics of how you mounted yours. Thank You.

The problem with 5-0 radio is it uses data and misses alot of radio traffic.

Uniden, GRE and Radio shack all have P25 capable (digital scanners) they're about 500 bucks though.

Just a heads up theyre illegal in some states unless youre police, fire, or ems,

Wisconsin. Mainly Washington County. Could you post a link to the site you mentioned?

Yep, thanks for your help. I don't have enough reason to spend $500.00 on one right now I guess.
