Clicking in Dash

i did a search and didn't really find anything i was looking for.
I have a clicking noise [sounds like your turn signal is on] and don't really have a clue where to start with it other than i think it might be the ford Trailer Brake Controller. i have the warning message when i start it saying "TBC FAULT" and "CHECK TRAILER". When i hit the brakes, i don't notice it. Since i have no use at the moment for the Trailer Brake, is there a way to disable it? Or am i not looking in the right area?

Its a 2005 f350 reg cab, 4wd, 6 speed.

I would lean to the hvac system for the clicking my o7 started doing the same thing turned out someones fat foot broke the actuation rod for the recycled air door. Wired it open and it hasnt done it since. A for the tbc fault code how are your batterys if mine get low on charge it will throw the tbc code on the info center. Another possibility Is a short in the wiring most likely right where you would plug in the trailer
