Where's The Hot Air

** Up date**
I noticed this happens during idle... Long stop lights sittng in a parking lot ect. Could this be an effect of lack of psi in the system? I.E. head gaskets about to go or maybe just a bad degess cap. I have noticed minor puking out he cap.

Lately I've notice that I don't any hot air comeing out of any of the vents It doesn't matter if I have the set on defrost, vent or floor. I can feel the air come out but its not hot. And it happens very random, I'll have hot air then boom it almost cold. Even though its 43* outside its comfortable inside the cab. I know it takes longe for your trucks to get warm, But I drive 14 miles to work and sometimes still not hot.

Before I start tearing into my dash looking for a vacume leak or the flapper of the heater core, does anybody have any thoughts?

no heat when trucks warm, cant see it has anything to do with head issues as the heats pulled from the heater core. I cant recall the name of it but there a box with a large flapper in it depending on the position it controlls the temp of the air ciming out. I'd bet 100 your little flapper is failing to move like it should possible causes are a malf in the switch on the ac contol pannel or the valve itseld. you tube power strok help. he's got a vid that describes the box im refering to and how its functions.

I'm no expert but isn't the puking a symptom of something more serious? My 2003 6.0 has the same problem but just adding some coolant only means I'll be puking some more coolant as soon as I tow or drive it a little too hard. It's even starting to puke without towing or driving hard.

I'm deleting my EGR and then I'll pressure test to see if it's bad head gaskets. I suppose I should look at my oil cooler too.

For those that know more than I do... shouldn't we be using the symptoms to locate/fix the cause?

Why were you low on coolant? Puking?

I think so.. Im not really sure, that was back when the truck wasnt mine and I only drove it every so often. But the heat would only work if I floored the throttle, other than that it would just blow cold air and it was because it didnt have enough coolant

I totally get the lack of heat due to low coolant. It sounds like I've got the same problem. It's just that I'll forever have the same problem if it continues to puke - not to mention it'll probably get worse.

There was someone on another thread who wrote that he had the same in-cab heat loss problems and once he deleted his EGR all was well. I think he may have already done HG's and studs too.
