6.0 600 hp

So I recently talked to Maryland Performance Diesel about making my 2005 6.0 put out around 600hp and was wondering if this would be a reliable daily driver and also if it would be worth my money

Any thoughts would be much appreciated, thank-you

Wouldn't that be a question for MPD while you had them on the phone? I guess it all depends on what your version of reliable is and what your money's worth to you.

There's an old saying. Cheap, fast, reliable. You can only have two of those. And with a 6.0 it's even more of a challenge.

Why is this in the interior forum?????? You'd get better response in the aftermarket/performance forum:
Lets see, 600 hp is almost double what the motor puts out. Reliable and 600hp are two words you will either never see or spend a TON of money to be able to say in the same sentence. You'll need:
built transmission $2,500-6,000
upgraded turbo $2,000-3,000
190/100 injectors+ $3,000
upgraded fuel system $700
Upgraded CAC system? $1,300
o-ring or fire ring heads with all upgrades(oversize valves, springs, porting) $2,300-4,000
Extreme, A1h11, or ARP aged studs $600-1,300
performance intake $500
Full exhaust $450-1,200
exaust headers? $1,000
tuner(maybe standalone?) $400-1,200
You do the math...and chances are pretty good that you'll still be redoing head gaskets every 20-30k.

i agree with what most people here are saying, 600 hp is easil;y attainable on the cheap, but having it be reliable i wouldnt count on it. at 600hp you will redoing head gaskets regularly and without a built trans you will be blowing it up. a built trans runs about 5500 from suncoast i believe, tunes/tuner 400, studs, head gaskets and egr delete is about 4 grand, and you might as well do an oil cooler while you are in there. all that and that probably wont get you to the 600 hp mark. honestly, if you want the reliable horsepower, do it right, or dont do it.

I had an 03 regular cab f350 6.0L and i had i think a 100hp ( might have been a little more, it was a tune from vivian at quick tricks) tune on my truck, and after a year (truck did have 100K on it) the trans started to slip, so the truck had about 88,000 tune free miles on it, and after 12,000 miles of a 100 hp tune the trans started to slip. Just to give you a heads up.
