one of my friends did one and it was 1 10" jl w3 in the console. he kept the whole top peice where is folds up for a seat and down for an armrest and storage. he fiberglassed the bottom and formed it just like the seat then he covered it with some foam for padding. it looks just like the factory seat but there is a sub in there. if you did that and kept the subs you have behind the seat it should sound pretty good. just mount your amps underneath the back seat. downfiring a sub is actually one of the best ways to get alot of sound out of a sub.

Behind the rear seat in a Super Duty is by far the best place for a sub.
actually it wouldn't be any louder, it would sound "lower" as being farther away the bass frequency wave, which is a very long wave ( ~ 18-30hz at the low), would have more distance to complete the wave.

Also bass is unidirection, so downward firing, leftward, rightward, it doesn't matter

Has a single 10" sub that faces downward, but it's a high priced JL sub, and put into a box that was designed and tuned for that interior. Sound, at least to me, is quite good. You'll get enough out of it to drown out that rap blaring cretin next to you in traffic. Green Grass and High Tides works very well for that...

Only other downside of this setup is, it's kinda pricey. Retails for $600, most of it is that expensive sub they put in. Got mine slightly used on ebay for $350. JL also makes a version that goes under the center seat for a 40/20/40 bench front seat. That person sitting on the center is going to really feel the music...
Mtx also makes a 10" sub that goes inside the lower portion of your middle seat. The seat can still be used in a pinch but in not as comfortable.
So it appears stock from outside!

You are correct about lower frequencies requiring more distance "to complete the wave" but as far as "wouldnt be any louder" and "firing in different directions doesnt matter", you dont know what you are talking about.

....and bass is omnidirectional, not "unidirection". That is until you get it inside a vehicle anyway. Then its a completely different ballgame.

No disrespect intended but ive built the loudest car stereos on the planet for several years now so ive got a pretty good idea on exactly what works the best.

Buy a center console off of e-bay for the S/D and buy a JL audio stealth box. Even with the stealth box in place you've got about a 2" deep console, enough to hide a 45 and som misc small stuff.
