shift knob?

Do the shift knobs on our trucks just twist off? If they do mine is super tight, and does anybody know what size the threads are?

Is there a bolt under the shift pattern insignia or is it just glued down on the splines? If so i guess you could heat it and it might loosen it up.

like said above they are splined. you can twist very bit side to side and keep pulling up. it will go. i had a manual f150 with the same knob on there. its a little tricky but it will finally just slide up

You can get your girlfriends hair dryer and try to heat up the glue on the splines to get the knob off. I think its glued on.

It is splined on. If you use a wrench or crescent wrnech the size of the shaft and a hammer you can get them off. Generally in 3 smacks or less

Thanks for the answers guys, i want to change the knob, I guess i would have to have threads cut on to it to put a aftermarket knob on there i will have to do some searches now to see if any of them are splined like ours. Thanks again
