Ok... what is it?

I have had this truck for 6 months and did not even know this thing opened. It has been broken and until I tried to track down the aux switch wires I did not know it opened. I forced it. The latch is broken off and it will not open normal like.

I want to fix or replace it, but what is it. It is not a glove box and it is not an ash tray. So what do I call it?

Thanks.
Brian
