Nah, a friend of mine had one in his pickup, attached to the visor mounts, didnt have to move the rear view. They're not the best for visibility, especially when you get into places where the traffic lights are close in relation to where you stop. I dont have one in my pickup but I do have the Lund visor and I have to crouch down to see the lights. Then again I am 6 foot 1 and my seat's all the way back on its track.

he'res an idea, but it may be too complicated...use an aluminum cake pan as a mold and make a fiberglass dish with a lip.. then cut a hole in the headliner and pop then pan in between the roof members; this will make a recessed hole in the roof to put the radio in. last, bolt in the radio, you'll probably have to use like a metal strap or something to attach the radio to the roof member...

theres my two sense...i've never put a CB in before, so this may sound kooky...good luck...

The shelf unit would work...it basically goes between the headliner and the rear view mirrors...at least the ones we use. We use them in our chiefs trucks and engines that are built on 450/550 chassis. Mount our Kenwood radios up there and sometimes even light bar controls.

I had a Shelf-It unit in my '96 and loved it. I had my CB mounted there, all wired in great. I have not been able to locate a Shelf-It unit for my 06 PSD though. The manufacturer may be stopping making them. Several catalogs list them as no longer available and the manufacturer's web site doesn't even list them JC Whitney does still list them, but not for newer models. If anyone knows of their availability, let me know. Would like to get a new one.

Hey I have an 04 250 four door and I have a connex 3300 hp cb mounted right under the dual pullout cup holder on the plastic plate that has the plastic hook on it! "Take the plate off and mount your c.b. bracket to it" then put it back on and then wire it up. WORKS GREAT! Make sure you mount the cb as low as possibe to access the cigarette lighter if needed. ALSO~~~Run a real ground wire to your cb! Dont use cigarette lighter socket for ac. You will get MAD noise~! Run a ground strap from the frame straight to your cb. Then a fusable link power wire(14-16 gauge) to your cb. Make sure the link is in an easy to get to spot for quick access! Good luck...Dave

I like the bracket you bought! It is clean and out of the way. I run a tool box and a 100 gallon diesel transfer tank so I mounted my 3' whip on a spring between the tool box and the transfer tank. The spring allows the antenna to accept abuse from reaching in and out of the toolbox time aftert time....

if you run out of room for trailer brakes and cb mount ur cb then use another cb bracket on the cb its self turn it upside down now the cb should have two brackets mount the trailer brake to the other bracket
