Scanner

Anyone here install a Scanner for monitoring Police, Fire, EMS, etc in their truck. I've been thinking about doing this, I'm just not sure which I should get and where would be the best place to install it.

I have the uniden beartracker in my truck and it is awesome out on the road. It has a feature that will sound an alarm if a radio signal from a HP unit is within 3 miles of me. Since all HP cars use a repater device the unit close to you don't even have to be the one talking. It is really small (about the size of a small cheapo CB) and has a butt load of features.

Well I was thinking about one that will pick up all the fire dept, EMS, and Police chatter in my area, I think the Uniden is the one I was thinking about.

You usually have to program in the freqs so you can see them though. I don't think they just POP up. Atleast none I have seen. I deal with radios alot.
