Talking Custom sound system done!!

It took a little bit of work... and a lot of months of sitting next to an MDF box that wasn't wrapped yet. But now I am very pleased.
I thought of the design, and began building. Had all the system components from past vehicles, collected them, and let my truck have it!

System components:
Eclipse 8554 Head Unit
Mostly 4 and 2 gauge wiring
Boston Pro coaxials in front doors (front staging only)
JL Audio 300/4
JL Audio 500/1
JL W7 10" sub

The overall sound is incredible. The front staging is AWESOME! The W7 hits hard and deep, as I knew it would. I couldn't ask for more, and once again, it's all done by hand saving easily 1000-1500 for install and box design/completion.

New System cost= $240 (to wrap box in matching charcoal vinyl)
the pics: (putfile hasn't been the kindest to my pics, so click for larger versions. thanks)
what to do with this wire mess?!

bare box, just picked up

_______________

pop some amps on it

Finally in!

I'd hate to see what happens when you hit a bump and your 44oz coke dumps all over them. That leather wrap is trick, but couldn't you fit the amps under the rear seats or on the back wall?

If you are happy with it that is wonderful. For my own taste, I would have made a little cleaner look. But hey, if you are happy, that is all that counts. It's your truck and no one else here has one like it. Props

Very cool DIY. The W7 is an awesome driver, and you can't go wrong with the Eclipse head unit, always a clean source. You do realize, your W7 is underpowered...LOL. I'm just giving you a hard time, I am an audiophile at heart, that was my first profession. I'm sure the W7 with the power it has, fills the cabin up nice. Thats always been one of my favorite subs, they are very capable, and not over priced. Great component choices.

Thanks for all the concerns, comments, compliments, and such. I did realize about the theft possibility, and also my gi-normous drink spillage problem, but I thought I'd leave them where they were because I think it does look pretty industrial and stuck with the theme.
About the underpowering. I know that... but fitting a 1000/1 right there wasn't the easiest as far as my design was concerned. I have it (from one of my other systems), but I used the 500 because as you said, it's plenty and that beast pushes crazy air already!

keep letting me know. shoot, I might change the whole set up soon haha (and i'm not kidding)

Nice setup man, i had a buddy that built his own box for under the rear seat and it sounds awesome!! Think I'm gonna have him built me a single 10" to behind the seat in my truck.
