air bag light

I don't know if this is the correct place for this question but here goes. More often than not my air bag light is on. I have found that if I throw almost anything on the right hand seat the light goes out. the other day all I had with me was a couple of paper files, probably weighed less than a pound but enough to put out the light. I am guessing that there is a sensor under the seat that turns on the right air bag if the seat is occupied. If so is it adjustable or???

Depends on what year, but yes that's the case in most newer car/trucks.
