Harley leather starting to split

My drivers seat armrest in my 05 Harley Edition is starting to split in a couple spot but only one is noticiable, about a 1/2 long split. Is there any way to stop the spread of the split? I would hate to see how much the stealership would want for a Harley armrest.
Thanks,
Drew

Not sure if it will help but those arm rest covers come off pretty easy. My friend had the leather on his armrest start to split and he just pulled both covers off and swapped the driver's side and passenger side around. This hid the split and doesn't require buying new covers.

Also, a guy on eBay sells them for $50. I need to replace one myself. He says he uses the same leather with the noticeable grain pattern as the Harley interior.

Just so you know it's not leather on the arm rest. Mine was doing it on my 04. I when to a shop and he told me its just vinyl. I was like no it's leather. Mines a harley 250. But he showed me the difference and he was right. But only charged me $25 to make a new arm rest. It looked just like the old one.
He said most cars with"leather" only have inserts in the seats. The whole seat is not leather.

I don't get why more people don't know this. That's why the option says "Leather Seating Surfaces" not full leather seats. You have two areas on each front seat that are full leather. The rest is all vinyl including the whole of the rear seat.
