Need Help! 2003 Ford F-250 6.0 SD Low Fuel Pressure Code NO-START
I had a real nice little type up prior to this one, however by the time I finished it the system logged me off, and when I re-logged back in I lost everything!
![]() Anyway let me try again, I have a customer with a 2003 Ford F-250 Super Duty with the 6.0 TD and for the past year it has had little power until after 2500 RPMS and also sports a low fuel pressure code. We changed the fuel filters with no effect when the problem first reared its ugly head. One year later he brings the truck back with 20,000 miles on the oil and 110,000 miles on the air cleaner asking if he should change them. LOL Anyway the oil looked like pudding and there was no light at the end of his filter, not to mention the little air filter life gauge said WAY PAST DUE. I also pulled the converter and put in a test pipe as the converter was also plugged. I sent him home to see if there would be any improvement, on my test drive it had much more power above 2500 but still lacked power big time under 2500 RPM. The next morning he calls me and says it will not start at all. Have it towed in and ordered a fuel pump. Pull the tank and SUPRISE! No fuel pump there! Put it back in and installed the pump on the frame. Still no start, it wants to start, it sounds like some cylinders are combusting, but will not run. I have thoughts of injection timing and wonder if there is anyway to set it without the dealer? Is there a base setting if I reset the computer by disconnecting the battery? I did this once when it would not start after the air filter and oil change and it helped, but the next morning it would not start. Please help, I am desperate at this point! LOL 1-888-459-7050 Rex

I should note that I pulled the tank a 2nd time to inspect the screen on the sender and such and it looked good to me. I read somewhere in here someone had that problem. Here are some photos for others who might come accross this problem. I also wonder if I am barking up the wrong tree with this whole injection timing thing? ![]() Fuel Tank ![]() Fuel Sender unit ![]() Fuel Pump removed from frame mounted housing ![]() Fuel pump pick-up screen Top of fuel pump sender while installed in tank ![]() Location of fuel pump is on the drivers side frame rail behind the front tire. This is the housing it sits in. Uses three 8mm bolts to hold it on. I assume the pump was bad causing the low fuel pressure code and lack of power, however I have no idea what could have happend over night to cause it not to start back up! Thanks and I hope all this helps someone else. Last edited by SELLC : 10-08-2007 at 03:38 PM. |
