Question Interior Light Bulb Numbers

Okay, there are about 52 pages in this forum alone. I made it through the first 3 pages before I decided to just make a new post.

I have a 2006 King Ranch with the moon roof. Two front map lights. And a rear dome light with two switch activated map lights.

I know the dome light size is 578.

What I don't know are the sizes of the 4 map lights. I would figure they are probably 194's....they're pretty common bulbs...but not certain.

Just wanted to find out for sure what size the bulbs are.

I have a similar interior setup. Lariat w/ sunroof.

Front map lights/dome, rear dome and rear map lights are all 578 festoon bulbs. I'd suggest going to LED's . I have red in the dome lights and white in the map lights and lighted vanity mirrors. The red looks killer with my interior, but white (which I had before) looks great too.

Just pop the covers off and take a look

I don't have an actual dome light up front, just the two map lights.

And 578 bulbs would seem pretty large for the map lights....

I'm actually working on swapping to LED's, this is why I'm trying to find out the numbers.

Right now, I need 6 - 194 bulbs for the exterior (license plate and running boards)

Make sure you get LEDs that offer direct, straight light. The light housing in the truck is designed to take the 360 degrees of light from the Festoon and focus it through a light tunnel. That tunnel provideds a problem for regular, wide beam LED Festoons. So that's why you need a LED Festoon with direct light instead of a wide beam, flood light. I just went through this and ended up with LEDs in the domes and the regular halogen in the map lights. I'll keep searching for a direct beam Festoon LED though.

Here, I pulled one off and took some pics. Hopefully, you can understand what I'm taliking about.

You're Welcome! Sometimes it's easier to understand with a pic!

Did you try aiming the lights into the reflector? wondering if that might help the issue. I haven't seen a festoon bulb with a 360 degree pattern yet. I'd be kind of bummed to have LED's...except for the map lights...I'm picky like that

Yeah, tried that but light doesn't go through circuitboard very well... There just isn't enough room in there for light to bounce around. I was really bummed when the LEDs provided no direct light in the map light location. I know they make something, just haven't looked that hard yet. Other things get in the way...
