Power slider broken; song and dance from dealer.
I have an 06 King Ranch that has a power rear slider. The cable broke and will not close the window. I have an aftermarket warranty (AUL) and have taken the truck to the dealer for the repair. Ford is saying the entire window needs replaced, not the motor. They are saying the motor is fine, but the cable is broken and the track needs replaced. If I'm not mistaken, isn't the motor, cable and track one assembly? Am I getting the runaround from Ford?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! BTW: The warranty company is covering a rear main seal leak, so the truck is going to be in the shop until next Monday/Tuesday, so if I could get some ammunition before then, that would be wonderful! |

I have the same problem with my 05 King Ranch rear power slide window, the cable is broke on passenger side or the side it closes to, after inspecting it I feel as if it is all one piece. I was able to get window closed and put a pin in the hole where the cable goes, so now the window won't slide open while bouncing around.

The motor, cable, and track does come as assembly. However, you do have to remove the rear window and disassemble it to replaced the track. You can purchase the track, motor, cable assembly and only use the cables and motor. you have to take the cables off the new track and you can sneak them into the old track. Its kinda a PIA but can be done.

If you are located near Virginia, I just took out my power slider, it is pretty good shape. I think it was used once.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm in sunny southern California. I'll just buy the part myself and install it, I'm sure it can't be that hard. Does anyone have installation instructions?

My rear slider has been acting up since I bought my truck last summer. I've cleaned the track, applied dry graphite with a Q tip to the cable and the grove, pulled the switch and cleaned the contacts, but it's still not working properly. Is there a procedure that the service techs follow when diagnosing these problems? The window will open fine and close, but I have to hit the button over and over again sometimes until it moves. Once it starts to move, it goes along fine with no binding. |
