King Ranch Leather Seats

My 2006 King Ranch leather seats color are fading rapidly. Does anyone else have the same problem? I was told of one guy whose seats faded completely and Ford had to replace them under warranty.

I'm afraid I have to plead guilty to that charge of fading seats. I came to realize that the sun was my arch enemy! Now I use a windshield shade when parked during the day; Works great with the tinted windows to minimize the effects from the sun's rays. I also condition the seats with Coach leather cleaner & conditioner every 6 months or so. My seats have life again!

Regards,

Jerry

The KR leather in my 03 was pretty faded when I got it a few months back. First thing I did was get the windows tinted (metallic film)... something I encouraged the PO to do years ago. The next thing I did was clean & condition the leather with Lexol. I must have conditioned the leather 4 or 5 times before I got some real improvement (still not 100%).

Jerry - did you take my truck?

But seriously - I bought this one a couple of weeks ago. Driver's seat was a bit faded, passenger's seat had some water stains on it. A good scrubbing, and a couple of coats of Brooks saddle treatment (made for leather bicycle seats) got them looking better.

They need to be conditioned every month and the sun beats them up. That is the most finicky leather ever!

Thanks. I have a 2003 Ford Sport Trac with the "normal" leather seats. They still have the same color as the rear seats and it is parked next to my King Ranch. I have never seen a leather fade in color as fast as these seats are. I contacted King Ranch in Texas to see if a leather dye is available to replace the faded color. I will post the results if something is available.

This is the main reason I chose not to go King Ranch. A beautiful rig but lacks the longevity of that new leather look. Get that thing conditioned before it is gone too far or better yet.....Take it back to the dealer and have it looked at. Hope you get it resolved!
Best Of Luck!!
