Interior dome light wont come on

I have read several posts about the trucks dome light not turning off but mine is opposite, it wont come on when the door is opened. I have tried replacing the bulb, checked the fuse and it was still good, and even pulled the entire housing from the roof and checked that the wires were still connected to it. The two bulbs on the ends of the entire housing work when you manually turn them on, its just the center bulb won't come on when you open the door or when you try to manually turn it on with the roller switch by the headlight knob. Any advice on what to check next? 2005 f350 ext. cab long bed srw
