Strange noise
Driving home the other day I noticed the strangest noise in my 06. It was coming from around the back driver side door and it sounds like air pushing through a small hole with a lot of pressure and its very loud. My first thought was, window was open a little or the door wasn't shut good. Nope, neither one of those. So I investigated a little more. It only does it when my a/c or heat is on, and only when I'm driving. Tried to make it do it in the driveway when I got home and it wouldn't. Turned the heat or a/c off and it goes away? Even stranger, it stops when a window is cracked open, close the window and it starts right back up. Any ideas? Thanks

If you are certain it is from the L/R door area, check to make sure all the weather stripping is intact and not torn or out of place. Also look at the felt channel that the window runs up and down in.
Narrow it down a little more. Does it change with fan speed? How about recirc on or off? |

I checked all weather stripping, its all intact, and I don't hear anything when the a/c or heat is off, if it was weather stripping it should do it all the time, right? And as far as fan speed I'm not sure, my fan only works on high for some reason? Think I may have a vacuum leak, but when I turn the fan to high it starts when I turned it down it stops, or at least I can't hear it, if it is still going its very faint. My 4 yr old was sitting there this mornin on the way to church and she thought it was a bug in my truck, lol. So I don't know.

I have had air leaks before that really stand out when the heater fan is running but seem to disappear when it is off.
You may need to blast the outside of the truck with a water hose or pressure washer with someone inside the truck and see if they can spot water coming in anywhere. |

I haven't tried spraying it with water yet but I did notice that it doesn't do it when the recirc is on. IDK?

It has to be an air leak around the window or door. Recirc on or off is changing the airflow or pressure in the cab.

Here is my thought, I actually had this issue with a Dodge, with your fan on High in fresh air mode, you over pressurize the cab, the noise you hear is from air being forced out of the cab. There are vents in the back of the cab, the rubber flaps were stuck on my truck. Coach.
