got the same problem with my 04 f250. driver side stopped working. light works, but no heat. heard that if the wire breaks it will not heat. so it looks like i got to take the seat out and check the wiring inside the seat.

Typically the seat bottoms will break or burn a wire, but the seat backs are still good. However, they are wired in series so if one doesn't work, the other won't work either.
Mine has the same problem you describe, light on no heat. Found Both seat bottoms are bad on my truck. Here's how to check: Look under the seat and find the plugs for the heating pads. There will be two of them, one for the bottom pad, and one for the back pad. Unplug them and use a multi meter to do a continuity check(loop check) on each plug. My meter has an audible continuity feature that beeps if everything is intact. Whichever one you find to not have continuity, there's your bad pad. I took one seat apart just to look at it and see how hard it would be to change the heating pads out on the seat bottoms, and I'm here to tell you, it's a huge pain in the arse getting the hog rings out and back in. I haven't fixed mine yet, but check Tousley Ford for the pads. They are about the best price I've found on them so far. $70 each.
