heater control noises

My 2005 F250 is fairly "loud" when switching from say vent to floor/vent or floor only. It kinda makes an audible "thump" which I swear I can also feel. It's not really loud...just kinda forceful sounding for something that other vehicles seem to do silently and slowly. Anybody notice this?

And does Ford run the AC when in vent or vent/floor mode? Seems like I hear the compressor kick in and out when I'm in vent mode for heat.

Mine does the same thing every now and then. The ac compressor will run in all modes except the vent only.
