Question Factory Stereo in an '05 F250 HD edition

Does it play MP3's in the CD player?

I'm flying to pickup my 'new' truck tomorrow and wanted to bring a CD full of .mp3's to listen to on the 4 hour drive home.

I honestly don't know if it'll play MP3's burnt to a disc, but I know that you can use an iPod / iPhone with the proper adapter and the "Aux" button on the stereo. I upgraded my stereo right after I bought my truck so I honestly can't give you any first hand knowledge.

From another forum:
You need a "PIE" adapter. Best Buy or a good audio shop should be able to help you. It'll plug into the stock radio on the backside and you then press the AUX button. Make sure you get the cable for the FORD system with the PIE adapter. You'll be able then to use it for most any portable devise with your radio.... XM or whatever.

Based on another page I found regarding the 05 - 07 250's:
NONE OF THE 6 DISK RADIOS MADE FOR THE F250 AND UP TRUCKS WOULD PLAY MP3 DISK OR WERE SAT READY

Thanks a bunch, that's what I needed to know. Good thing i didn't waste time burning a disk this afternoon. Gotta catch a plane early in the morning. Might hit a best buy and see if I can reach it from under dash before I come back.

Just an FYI, the stock CD player for an 05-07 will play MP3 discs if it says mp3 on it, its hard to tell just by someone listing specs on it, but it will say it on the radio. the factory 6-disc radio does not play MP3 burnt discs unfortunately.

The PIA aux adapter works on any of the factory head units which gives you that aux control.

Hopefully that helps if you havent left already

Mine has the 6 disc so no luck. Thanks for the info guys. How does the PIA adapter work. Just plugs into the back of the stereo and the other end plugs into an iPhone or iPod? I guess you would control what plays from the iPhone/Pod?
