08 dash swap?

Has anyone done the swap yet>? If so how difficult was the wiring and did you upgrade to the new cluster or retro fit the new dash surround to fit your old cluster? Im really interested in it if its possible thanks-

I have not found an article yet. It can be done, the cabs are the same. You will need to get the dash , the under bracing as well as any ducting you can get from the blower motor, steering column with switches ,wheel etc. You may have to build some custom bracing underneath, spot weld some tabs, no big deal if you are a do it your selfer and done car/truck work. The switches should be the same as in voltage etc, you may need plugs, it just depends. The gauge cluster is where the trick will be, I have done gauge cluster swaps before, it just depends if it all works directly with the ecu, a wiring diagram will tell you that, and etc, it is easier to keep your old cluster and build a nice trim ring to fit into the newer dash behind the clear plastic to make it look factory as possible. Soon as I am out of the sand box , I am planning on buying a dash and doing it in my Harley with front end 08 conversion, interior etc, so the entire truck is basically an 08 Harley. If anyone has a write up on 08+ dash swap, it would save some time and headaches.

I took the dive on this swap. The dash will bolt up but everything else is completely different. The heater box is offset on the 99-07 whereas the 08-10 is mounted directly in the middle of the firewall. Therefore, the duct system has to be redone. The steering columns are different so all of the wiring has to be cut and refitted to the 08-10. This also applies to the lights, TBC module, upfitter switches, HVAC. I'm near completion, working on the HVAC now. Its been a pain.

Good stuff, I am planning the same thing soon as I get out of the sand box, I figured you would need entire dash, steering column, wheel, and wiring harness so you can wire up the HVAC, Steering wheel/column, redo ducting on the heater core box etc, I am glad you are in the process and can give some info on what to do.
