You mean Pleather seats. If it''s a stock Lariat, they are not real leather...unless its a King Ranch.

I have an interior conversion kit in my truck. It's from "Eclipse Sport Trucks". The nicest addition is that they ripped out the stock seats and put some NICE Full Grain Leather captains chairs w/ plush armrests and headrest. That seat adjusts every way imaginable and it's like riding down the road on a lazy boy. If your seats are that bad I'd look into something like this. Dunno the price, it was done before I bought my truck.

I really don't have anything bad to say about the seats in my truck, the cloth is actually quite soft.

Nope, i don't know that much about 5.0 mustanges...or 4.9 either.
99.9% of the time, I will not say anything unless i know what I"m talking about. If I am mistaken and someone points that out to me, i will gladdly accept that i was wrong. Someone plainly stated "your wrong" on this topic and i was not. If i am wrong, show me, conjecture is meaningless. If I think i know and i state my opinion, i will also say, "i think" or "i could be wrong".
In this case, i know there isn't any "real" leather in a Lariat unless you put it there yourself.
Imitation leather is actually easy to spot. The texture on the Lariat seats is FAR from any leather texture I have ever seen.
Now, i'll get off my soapbox

You haven't proved to anyone, that Ford is not using real leather in a Lariat.

Mr. CHenery are you telling me the leather upgrade on a Lariat package is Pleather? I realize it is a cheap grade leather but not pleather? And my orginal complaint was that the seats were flat as a board and the foam was as hard as a brick and offered no support and the center console is the wrong height to rest your arm on comfortably. Now that I have had the truck for several months it's not as noticable. But it is still a far cry from the Chevy seats, I was merely stating my opinion. For a truck that stickers in the high 40's you would think that the seats would be much more comfortable and the quality of leather better. I guess the buttkickin motor makes up for the cruddy seats.

The leather in a stock larriet is real leather....it is a very low grade leather...but it is real leather......

They add polimers to the leather to make it more durable, one of the downfalls of the real cow hide in the king ranch is that without proper care, it looks terrible very quickly. but by no means is the lariet leather not leather.......Pleather is not leather at all, just plastic basically made to seem like leather...where as the seats in the lariets are leather blends to put it in simple terms....

I'm not really sure about all the year models where the seat surfaces are concerned. I have an early '99 model. It has real leather where your butt and back touch. All side and rear surfaces are vinyl. The rear seat is all vinyl. I know this because the previous owner didn't take care of the seating surfaces. The driver seat bottom has been replaced with vinyl. The passenger seat has worn places on the edges and it looks almost like suede or "roughout".
I worked at a western supply store right out of high school and know leather pretty well after selling boots, saddles, riding tack, etc. US car makers as a rule use a REALLY cheap grade of leather that usually has a texture stamped on the surface. It is also usually coated to preserve it since leather really needs MUCH upkeep and care. The coating is to keep the natural oils and such from evaporating or wearing off.
Like I said I'm not saying everyones seats are leather or that anyone is a liar, but mine came from the dealer with leather on the "sitting surfaces".
