Question Tightening seatbelt retractor

My drivers side seat belt retracts minimally if at all. If I "help it along" it will pull - but ever so slightly.

How do I tighten the spring (assuming there is a spring in there)? How do I get to it?

Thanks

there is no way to tighten spring , have to be replaced , seat belts are for the most part tamper proof , and reason why is because its a safety issue

I see this all the time in being in the collision industry, this is one of my pet peeves when my kids get in my car or whoever, when they exit, to make sure the seat belt retracts all the way, and are not twisted, this will extend the life of your seatbelt greatly. There is no way to repair, or replace the tensioners in seatbelts, they are a non serviceable item, due to collision protection.

One thing you can also do is clean off all the goo that collects on the upper support that the belt slides through. I had this happen to me on my car and it is amazing how much collects in that thing. After cleaning it there was a big differance.

My 2005 warranty states coverage for safety restraints - 5 years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. It appears that your mileage has expired the warranty, if the same warranty coverage applies for your year model vehicle (probably the same coverage).
However, here's some links for you if interested in replacing what you have.

Mine is the same way, won't retract all the way without help. Never thought of this being covered under Warranty.
