Crew Cab Overhead Lights

I know this may be a dumb question, but I couldn't find where anyone else had actually asked it.....My dome light doesn't come on when I open the rear doors of my crew cab. Giant pain when I'm trying to get my 8 month old daughter in and out of the truck! Lights all come on when I open one of the front doors. Is this normal or do I have a switch out?

Nobody has a crew cab? It would help if someone would just check to see if their dome lights come on when they open the rear doors only.

Never checked before, so I just now did, and all my overhead lights came on when I opened just a back door.

mine on my OBS come on with just rears open, possible you may have bad switch

Huh. Thanks for looking! Did you guys happen to look in the door jam for a switch?

My CC is a little picky. Sometimes it works, and then there is times when it won't come on no matter what door it is that I open.

What I really DO want is a kill switch to keep the dome light from coming on everytime I open the door. Sometimes you don't want it to come on when you open the door so I'm probably gonna wire up an independent switch for it.

But check your relays and wiring on your CC and see how it goes.

I did a little checking while I was out in the garage on Saturday night. The lights come on when I open any door except the driver's side rear door, which happens to be the one I open to get my daughter.

What exactly should I be checking to diagnose the actual problem?

Do you get a Door Ajar light on the dash board?

I've heard of folks spraying WD-40 into the door latch area and 'freeing' up the mechanism. Go cheap and try that first.

In my 06 CC I've noticed that if I open any door the front lights come on but the back light doesn't. The lights work if you turn them on from the switch but they won't come on with opening the doors. Not sure how its supposed to be, but if would be nice if the one of the rear doors is open it would turn the back light on and not the front, or with the front it doesn't really matter. It would just be nice if the rear light came on with the opening of the rear doors at least.

I may have to look into it now, i thought maybe the rear light wasn't supposed to come on with the opening of doors.
