CB Mount Location?

I need some ideas where to mount my CB. It's a typical full size CB. Not a small mini one. I already have the antenna mounted on a Firestik Bedrail mount. Now it's time to install the radio.

mine is mounted on the bottom of the dash. Yeah I know no one likes to put holes in the dash. But mine looks great where it is located. I don't know if you have that cubby hole on your dash to the right of the steering wheel but if you do mine is mounted directly below that storage.

I was thinking of fabing up a bracket to utilize those 2 screws the "hook" has. Yes the hook would become useless, but.... it could be returned to stock.

I removed the screws from the "hook" and used some 2 1/2 inch sheetmetal scres and screwed the bracket right up agains the hook. I haven't had any squeaks and the radio doesn't vibrate. Finding power to run it off of was the hardest part of the installation. The only issued I had is that the radio is only about 7" from my Tekonsha Voyager trailer brake controller. In the owners manual the company says RF emitting devices should be mounted at least 12" away. However, when I contacted their tech dept they said it's only a precautionary thing. They said as long as the trailer brakes don't activate when the mike is keyed then don't worry about it. The CB won't harm the brake controller or vice versa.

Yeah I think the Hook mount is going to be the best option. Hey goodcruisin- Do you have a pic of your install? I'd love to see a pic of it.

I'll take one tonight when I get home. I've never posted a pic on the forum so we'll see what happens.

The only problem I see with that location is how easy it is to reach the radio to change channel or make adjustments while driving. Unless they changed the location of that hook from 2002 to your year.
