Question Overhead Console - excursion in a F350

My 04 f350 xlt lacks an overhead console and I was wondering if a console from a excursion or even a f150 would fit the roof contour.

Has anyone tried this mod.

Thanks for your help/advise

I'd say yes, I bought one for my F350 on e-bay out of an F150 same year model. I haven't installed it yet though, I've had my truck just 8 weeks, and the last 5 it's been in the shop. I did hold the console up to the headliner, and it fit nicely. The hookup for the electronics (outside temp. and compass) I don't know yet. I have an xlt and I hope the plug is up there, but if not I'm prepared to do what is necessary to get it ro work. You can buy these on e-bay for about $40.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply, I didn't think I would ever get a response. Stressed 11, don't think you will find any wire up there or even wiring up front by grille for the temp sensor. Mine wasn't there. Never mind the wiring or bulb for the door light. It's easy to run. You could do it at the same time you wire up a gauge pod on your pillar.

I was going to do the same thing as you, buy one on ebay. The f150 console is all you need. Did you try the mounting bracket. Is there support in the roof or do you have to invent something.

I accidently got one without the mounting bracket, but was able to get one from the dealer. I still don't have my truck out of the garage so I haven't even started the install yet, so I can't answer the bracket questions.
