rear seat swap

im at work, met a guy who is going to swap rear seats with me. (bench for buckets) if anybody knows the list of tools i will need, i don't have time to figure it out, as im heading straight there after work.

the back panel we do not switch correct? its literally just the seats.

what about the "tray" thing below my bench? are the holes there for him to bolt that in?

thanks for all the help

i *believe* deep 19mm and 17mm sochets will get the job done. Theres also a some torx head bolts holding down the metal tray under the seats that must come out. good luck!

ran into a few problems.

1) with the truck that has the captains, its missing the passenger side inner front hole for the mount, its below the carpet, but not threaded.
2) the bolt that is mounted into the floor, passenger side inner near the back wall. remove from truck with bench, once again cut hole in carpet to put it in. but not threaded.
3) seat belts, luckily the guy i swapped with wasn't worried about them so he was ok with not switching them, but you need the right bit, its pretty large.

other than that its a pretty straight swap. took us about an 1 1/2 hours with the dilemas and working through them. required an 18mm and a small star bit (can't remember size), did not have to be a deep socket. removing the fold out rack, helps tremendously when removing the seats.

mine are in my truck still sitting loosely so i can clean the console and seats up a bit.

did not find a how-to so i wrote one up for those wanting to do the swap.

HOW TO:

Quote:
Tools needed:
-18 mm (bench has 6 bolts & captains has 4 bolts)
-6 mm (console)
-star bit (ill find out size later)
-knife (to cut hole in carpet for vehicle getting the bench)

Steps for removing bench:
1) remove the fold out below the bench using the star bit
2) remove all bolts from the seat, 3 visible bolts (2 passenger side, 1 driver side), also 3 nuts directly behind the 3 bolts at the very back of the seat. best approach i found was go towards them from the front of the seat not behind.
3) unhook seat belts from seat (elastic band)
4) remove seat

Steps for removing captains:
1) 6mm to remove 4 console bolts
2) remove 2 front bolts (1 driver side, 1 passenger side) once again look directly behind those 2 bolts you just pulled out there are two nuts.
3) unhook seat beats from seat (elastic band)
4)) remove seat

Adding holes in carpet, inserting stud (only passenger side, captain seat truck)
1) lift carpet up and search for the holes, about 1 foot passed the already there holes.
2) cut holes
3) when inserting the bolts, use tap and die set as they are not already threaded.
4) front hole- uses bolt, if you do not have a tap and die set, just apply pressure when inserting
5) rear role- pull the rear "stud" out of the passenger side towards the middle, it just unscrews, this will go in the same spot on the other truck. apply pressure if you do not have a tap and die set.

Seat Belts:
1) remove rear tray behind seats (6 mm bolts)
2) use larger star bit to remove bolts, 2 for the vehicle with captains originally, 4 for vehicle with bench originally. (not sure on size as we did not switch belts)
3) swap, need to cut to holes for other 2 bolts for the vehicle with captains receiving the bench
4) reinstall belts and tray behind seat

Install:
re-install everything the exact way you removed it except in opposite truck.
