Window tint removal.

I have already taken the actual film off, using the garbage bag/windex method. But it left this shiny, reflective film that has sticky gunk holding it on the window. Oh, and this is not the factory tint, this is tint that the previous owner put one. I don't want to damage the factory tint. How should I take this residue off? Here is what it looks like.

I tried that. I even tried spraying some windex on it and scraping it with a credit card.

you can try a heat gun or hair dryer to help loosen it up.

I like goo gone. But unfortunately I've had to remove window tint before as well and the only thing that took off the glue was a razor blade which will also take off your factory tint. That's some sticky stuff they use for the tint. Then you've got to spend a couple hundred bucks to redo the factory tint. Hope you have better luck than I did.

Also FWIW I would never use the DIY tint kits. The extra expense for the professional job is worth it IMO.

I just removed tint from the house windows that was diy from about 8 years ago and had started to bubble. I used a tint removal spray from Lowe's. It worked fairly well. Had to take my time and peel the old off slowly. The removal spary works well to remove the layer of adheasive left behind after the tint was removed. I would give this a try. Good Luck!

I think I'm going to try soaking it it Windex, putting the bag over it and heating it with a hair dryer.

The stock "tint" isn't actually tint so you don't really have to worry about hurting it. The window is smoked glass. Use a razor blade and be sure to keep it flat.
