08 Console Install

Finally got some time to mess with the 08 console I picked up for my truck. here is a pic of it just like I got it:

This pic shows it taken apart and ready to paint

This pic shows a piece of my interior from my truck next to a console pic so you can see the color difference:

Here are the materials I used. 220 Grit sandpaper, tackcloth, and the ColorBond "paint".

I washed it good with warm soapy water, dried it off, then gently sanded it with the 220 Grit sandpaper. After that I again washed it with warm soapy water, then rinsed it off and dried it off. Then I wiped it down good with the tack cloth. Then I just gave it several light coats of the paint, allowing it to dry in between coats. It came out great and matches my interior perfectly.

This pic shows the piece of my interior next to it for comparison after paint. The trim piece is dirty so it looks a little off but in person it looks like a perfect match:

Here is a pic after paint and reassembly. I'm not sure, but thinking about taking the front part off and painting it black. The rest of the trim in my truck is black so I think it might look better. Let me know what you think.

The trim piece around the cupholder is missing in that picture. I have it off to scuff and paint. I dont want the chrome, it would be the only thing chrome inside my truck. Headed out now to pick up some wiring and connectors to hook the accessory plugs up. I'll update more later.

Just came in from buttoning everything up. The only thing I have left is to paint the cupholder trim ring (not shown in picture) Turned out great. Love the room in it and love the accessory plugs. Ended up the four wires on the plug were:

Black - Ground
Red - Positive
Purple - Ground
Blue - Positive

I just made up a harness for them. Tied to a hot source and ground to the body.

Here are a couple of pics of the finished install:

How hard is it to bolt up? Do you have to remove the seats or does that make it easier?
