Exhaust Tips

Are exhaust tips a necessary thing? Was looking to get an MBRP 4" turbo back system. One of their systems comes without a tip and I've seen a few others that tips aren't included.

Was wondering if the tip is just for the show or had a functional purpose as to sound or whatever.

The tip is just for show, it does nothing for performance.

Well you can position your exhaust exit in a way on you truck to allow the outside air to suck the exhaust out and designing a tip to improve that suction. (wile the truck is moving)

you will have to do some tunnel testing to understand how the air conforms with the truck and exhaust.

Thanks guys. I didn't figure it could do much way out there at the end but I did wonder about the suction effect or the sound resonance.

Mostly i guess it's there for the pretty. Which will probably be important to the wife....so as you can imagine in that case I'll be shelling out for a nice shiny tip.
