Couple Questions?
Hey guys I just bought an 06 today and I am looking at running a tuner in it. From what I have read the SCT is the best is that correct? Also who would I want to order it from? To run the extreme tunes do I need to head stud my truck or no? Also will the trans hold up when running the extreme tunes?

I ran mine on stock heads on the race tune for about a year with no problems just use your head and all will be good. Now I'm stud and have a stud tune in and love it even more now

Not sure who all the sponsors are on this site, but Most tune writters can write tunes studded or non studded you wont get the max HP or TQ, but you will have alot over stock but able to keep it safe. As for the Trans as long as the tune is correct, and you talk with who ever does your tuning, they can adjust all your shift pressure by you telling them what is going on. Im still running a stock tranny on my truck and I pretty sure Im over the 550 mark close to 600hp would be my guess wont know till I dyno again.

to the op, im in the same boat you are i just bought mine and have no clue about diesels or tuners. im psyched to learn about it though. from what most guys have told me the sct livewire is the best chip to get with these trucks. where does everybody mount their livewires? im trying to find a pillar pod mount for it. Livewire is not all its cracked up to be, I like my x2 cause you dont see any of that on the truck and think its a sleeper. Most ive seen done to a 6.0 with everything stock besides EGR delete studs exhaust and intake, Only added after that was a SCT and FICM tuning. They dyno at 502 uncorrected HP most ive seen a 6.0 do with stock injectors and turbo.
