Hypertech question

I have been reading these posts for awhile, and was noticing that there was not much mentioned about Hypertech programmers. Do you guys not like them, or what? I had a hypertech power module in my 03 F250, and then my 04 F350 and was pleased with the power it had. You could really tell a difference from stock and stage 3. The thing that I liked was the fact hypertech said you could tow a load even in the 3rd stage with out messing anything up. Plus I liked the on the fly option. I use the truck must to tow my 30 ft. goose neck trailer loaded w/ my tractor and equipment, or a 28 ft. fifth wheel camper. The heaviest would be the tractor. It is around 14,000 lbs loaded (trailer, tractor, and equipment). I pulled this all the time in stage 3 which hypertech says is around 100 or so hp and was well impressed with it. The egt gauge would get around 400 to 500 on flat road and then around 700 to 800 pulling a hill. This could be a little off because after reading some post I found out my egt probe was in the wrong place. On the down pipe just past the turbo. Even though I never had a problem towing with the module on the truck. I traded the truck in on an 06 F350 and am thinking about getting a module for this one. Sorry so long but was just wanting some insight , or thoughts on the hypertech brand.

I didnt know there was a way to change tunes "on the fly" in a 6.0. Most people here will agree that SCT is the best tuning for the 6.0.

If you want the best tuning avalible for the 6.0 get a sct xcal3 with custom tunes. Shift on the fly is not good for the tranny. I will say that with the egt probe past the turbo your egts were a lot higher. The egt probe should always be in the manifold. Lastly towing and 100+hp tunes is not a good idea. With a custom tune most are 0-70hp that allow you to tow full capacity. With a good tow tune you will incorporate a little bit of turbo braking as well. I'd pass on the hypertech and get a good tuner with custom tunes.

I have one and I really liked it. Nice smooth power, the adjustment on the fly, really nice unit, but I have to run custom tunes due to my mods. Anyone interested in the Hypertech PTM for the 05^ pm me.

What mods do you have that made you go away from the hypertech? According to hypertech you were safe towing in the 3rd stage up to the trucks towing capacity.

theres no "safe" shift on the fly module that can be run on a 6.0. Also, alot of people use custom tunes to get their larger injectors or turbos dialed in and most pre programmed boxes are tunrd for stock injectors and turbos. lastly, there is most likely no trans tuning with a box style tuning only changing fueling tables so i bet you will tear your trans apart because it is not set up to handle the power increase.

With out custom tuning you are buying a programmer designed for a stock truck. It will not compensate for upgraded parts

Read sig.. Once you get injectors, turbo, etc., custom tuning is mandatory.
