Question bout Cales Tune

I have a bone stock 2004 F250. Currently running a SCT SF3 and loving it. I heard from a friend about this tune that Cale has that gives massive rwhp. does anybody know if it is safe for my truck being that it is completely stock, or is this tune for modified trucks only.
Thanks for any input.

once you get hot tunes ,you run the risk of blowing head gaskets, are you running any guages so you can monitor egts?

Cale has made his 140 tune so that it is relatively safe on stock headstuds. But an engine with EGR still on it is a timebomb, no matter if its stock or tuned.

I was using cales 140tune for a few days and blew my HPOP out. He replaced it and done an EGR delete while he was in there and I've been running it for 2 months with the 140 tune and no issues!

Highly recommend BTS!

No guages other than what came in the truck. Thanks for the input. I think I'll just stay with the standard tunes from SCT for now. The truck is my daily driver. A friend just told me about these tunes and said I ought to look a getting one. I don't want to risk blowing anything though. maybe later I'll look into it more when I can upgrade bolts and other stuff.
Thanks again for your replies

You dont have to go all out for a tune. He has a very nice 90-100hp "econo tune". I would get that if you're super-worried about blowing the studs.

I just pulled 20mpg doing 70 the whole way for about 300miles. And it will completely destroy the rear tires on demand. Very insane for a diesel truck with few mods!

Thanks for the reply Rubenk, I have a question for you as I am new to this stuff. How would Cales 90-100hp econo tunes be any better than the Sct tunes. SCT advertises that on my 04 I should be getting 150 hp On the street tune. I think the SCT is awesome, I just had a friend tell me that Cale had a 450rwhp tune and that it I should get it. I just have reservations about this as my truck is still stock but like I said I new to all of this so I need input from guys like yourself.
Thanks again for your reply

Well I am by no means an expert in the matter. I've only had my first 6.0 for about 3 months now and i've learned a great deal in that time. But i've been around diesels my whole life, and i'm fairly mechanically inclined.

I'm not familiar with the SCT tunes, but I would bet they dont tune the tranny, and probably dont tune the engine very well. I have 100% confidence in Cale's tuning, with my 140 tune the tranny shifts great and everything. And its only 30$!! So why not try out a couple tunes?

The driveability and power with custom tunes are much better. The EGT's tend to run a lot cooler also. Shifting is way better with custom tuning as well.

Also even with SCT's canned tunes GET GAUGES

I ran Cale's tunes in my '06 for right at 80,000 miles and they are still on them to this day....alot of test tunes have been run on my truck in those few years. I ran stock gaskets, and did not put gauges in until about a year ago (I am not saying its safe). I think you would be VERY happy with Cale's econo tunes over canned SCT tunes.

I have both the 90 hp and the 140 hp tunes from Cale and love them. I ran the canned tunes for a while without gauges. I got gauges and then ran the canned tunes vs the custom tunes and the custom tunes run a lot better and run cooler EGT's. I highly recommend Cale to anyone looking for a great customer service. Great guy to do business with.
