VGT SS Humm

Well lately my VGT SS has been making a very weird humming noise, like when its supposed to whistle it hums and the whistle isn't as loud as it used to be. Its not spooling up as fast eiter, do you think i need to take it apart and clean it, or is it something else? It still builds up alot of boost, today i hammered it and it was at about 37 psi. What can it be? TIA!!

may sound stupid but did you check all you intercooler pipes and boots to make sure you didnt rip or they are coming loose?

if its boosting up i would bet its not in the turbo, a bad turbo does a few things and since you are hitting 37 pounds it sounds like its good.

does it hum at a certain rpm or anything?

Yup that was the first thing i checked.. I thought it could be leaking from there but everything was fine.. It mainly does it really loud under 1500 RPM. When i unplug the VGT solenoid on the turbo the hum goes away, but as soon as i plug it back in the hum comes right back..

Did you call and talk to Elite..........hopefully you are able to get a live person.....see waht they have to say

hmmm..im not 100% sure how the solenoid works but maybe that is bad? idk man..like dukcaln said call elite up

I had tried to get ahold of them but they didnt call back, but ill try again tomorrow.. Also a little while ago i changed from Xtreme Street to Xtreme Race and now the hum is not as loud?? How would the tune affect it?

Better off asking them.....but keep trying to get a live person....e-mail garret at elite too. Try calling first thing when they open and I have found that to be the best time...............good luck
