blocking egr help

I keep seeing suggestions for blocking off the egr, I am new here and new to mods and stuff so would someone pls explain the why's and hows of this and what king of difference it makes.

i know where to get the stuff to do it now, but, I asked why and what it does i just dont understand the reason for doing this if someone would olease explain it.

block off the cooler prevents the truck from blowing coolant out the degas bottle and the possibility of blowing head gaskets.

if you search on the forum you will finds 100s of threads about it, how it works, how it has worked and so on

Thanks guys, actually I called outlawdiesel who educated me. I see now this is a must if you mod your rig. Now I am officially off the dumba$$ list..
