custom tune question

Does anybody know if custom tunes can be written to quite down the whistle on a 6.0 with 4" exhaust and no cat?

It's not that the exhaust is too loud, Im just not a fan of the whistle. I saw a video on you tube where a duramax with efi llve had a custom tune that changes the turbo vane position at idle to quite down the whistle so you can hear his truck rumble.

You must have an 03 truck or at least an 03 turbo. Most of the folks on here crave that sound. LOL You can try putting a muffler on it to see if that will quieten it down, but if you have that turbo, you are one of the lucky one according to this bunch. I love my whistle. Are you straight-piped as well?

I have an MRBP muffler. I really like the sound of my truck when it's first started, right before the turbo whistle kicks in. I just think it sounds like a vacuum cleaner right now....

I actually have an 06. I guess I'm just different, but I love the sound of my buddies d-max

What year is your buddies d-max...cause it sounds like he has an 01 to an early 04 that doesn't have a VGT style turbo?

You can adjust the vanes on the VGT turbo D-Max with EFI Live to get rid of the hiss noise at idle, but when you accelerate the VGT works like it should.

I heard you could do it on the 03 FORD trucks too.

ur right my buddy has an 03 dmax.

I didn't know if the turbo vane adjustment could be done on a powerstroke 6.0 like a d-max, I guess that's my question....

I'm guessing a non VGT turbo would make my truck run like garbage unless I had some injectors..

Yeah, lol.

I think Shu873 has a non vgt on his truck. As far as I know you cant do it on any 6.0 except the 03 motor.

As far as I know you can't adjust the vanes to cut out some of the whistle.
