Why tho 03 turbo ???

Why does everyone want the 03 turbo ?
Is the 7.3 turbos better?
Will it fit on my 05 6.0 or why should i change ?
Just currious, thanks again

you can search and will find 100s of threads about it.

reason is people like the whistle over the newer turbos. you cant use a 7.3 turbo on a 6.0 engine

Only real difference between the '03 and later year VGT's is the number of veins on the exhaust wheel. The '03's have 10 blades and later years have 13 or 15. The '03's have an insane exhaust whistle. Also I believe the journal bearings on the '03's are smaller than later years. Some people believe there is a small performance benefit to the '03's but I don't personally subscribe to that theory. If you want to put one on a later year 6.0 you need the '03 pedistal mount as well. The later models have a different pedistal also.

15 extra hp and that is dyno verified with an 03 turbo versus later turbos.

Personally I prefer the whistle that I have now at higher rpms(atleast the rpms that I see on the interstate) then having that whistle at very low rpms. Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy having the 03 turbo, but I just prefer the one I have now.
