new to the forum and need a little help
I recently purchased a 2005 sd with a 6.0 and did a few upgrades. the zoodad did wonders (thanks for the info!) and I just added a 4" tb with a cat delete but as soon as it was taken off the rack it started making a sucking sound like a large vacuum line was off and at certain times it will make a shrill ear piercing sound we checked for leaks and could not find any the truck still shows a good boost on the gage and seems to run? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

Welcome to the ORG. check to see if all of your charged air boots are conttected, also check to see if you have a tear on the induction side of the turbo (airfilter to turbo).

at the front or the rear? i agree with above if its at the front, check all your intercooler boots and intake connections from your airbox to turbo. if its from the rear of the truck, probably the signature vgt turbo sound your hearing.

thanks for all the responses!
I have been busy checking all the boots and connections and air box plumbing. all looks good in those areas. I read somewhere about a possible cracked y pipe so I will check that when the rain goes away. someone in a past thread wrote about a kettle whistle noise and mentioned an egr cooler problem. is there a way to check for that without having to tear down the motor? I hear ford has problems with that whole egr thing and there is an aftermarket egr blocker kit. Is that an expensive change or can it be done by a novice mechanic in the driveway on his day off work? thanks again for all the info and input. you guys are great
