Boost inquiry

Since I bought the 2004 PSD I currently own, I have never seen the boost go above 19psi. I read that some of you guys are pushing 20-30psi.

How is this possible?

I am running an old school Superchips 1704, at W.O.T I can't get more than 18-19psi maximum. Is something wrong with my turbo?

No its jut because your superchip don't push your truck as hard as other tunes.

It puts out pretty good power.

With a stock engine (no ARP's) 4" exhaust straight piped and gauges what is a safe BOOST level?

you might have a leak somewere, intercooler boot or somthing, or depending on your milage your turbo may need to be cleaned because the vanes need to be cleaned. Stock i was running around 24 at max bost now with the sct im running around 30 at half throttle

I've got 43k on the truck. I just replaced two of the silicone boots and the main elbow that feeds the inlet side of the turbo. I dno't know if there are any leaks. The remaining boots look good and I doubt my intercooler is leaking.

I wonder if the HP tune on my old school Superchips 1704 tuner "limits" the boost to stay below 20psi?????

Is there a step by step instructional thread on how to clean the turbo vanes located on this site, anyone can direct me too?
Thanks

My truck makes 24 25 stock at W.O.T and with the Innovative extreme street it will hit 30 at half throttle but only about 20 at W.O.T

Hmmmm...I double checked today, everything seems to be in good working order.

I read on a site that offers performance products that the EGR can possibly hinder "boost" by leaking internally. Not sure if it's true.

I am doing my EGR cooler/valve delete from FCDP soon. Perhaps once the up-pipe is strictly feeding the turbo it will boost properly.

I am also servicing/cleaning my turbo once I have it out. Is there a chance the "lack of" maintenance to the turbo on my part has something to do with it?
