a buddy of mine has a 05 D-max with EFI live tuning and wants to race should i race him? who do you think will win. my truck will also be getting a Tuned FICM before we go. we both have 35's
Are you all racing from a dig or what? If you race a full 1/4 and he has a good EFI tune.......the bowtie will probably be the first to the line. His trans will limit him and his front end will limit his lauch if you all race from a stop. Have fun with the race and LAUNCH HARD!!!!!!
yep, depending on how the race is set up (track, street, dead stop, etc) you are gonna have to give it everything you've got, i hate to say it but in the 1/4 mi he will probably win, that is if he can get off the line without breaking a cv joint :hehe:
Thanks for the input guys I will be running the Extreme race tune from Eric but my 4 wheel drive only works when the hubs are locked will this affect the race?

Your hubs will be fine just make sure you don't turn :thumb:..... as everyone else says launch the $hit out of your truck, you should have in the 1/8 but 1/4 its going to be close cuz he will be comin'
ive never ran erics extreme tune, but with cales when i stand on the skinny pedal in 2wd from a dead stop, i could roast my 35's all day...lock your hubs and put it in 4wd if you want a good launch, unless you guys are running at the track then i would race him in 2 and 4
see if his transmission is built... if not he will prolly limp it at the 1000ft. also check for tie rod sleeves. If he doesnt have any of this his truck wont have the potential it will racing on the street till 90 or so
I'm sorry man, I hate to say it, but a race tuned 6.0 by eric is fast.
But a efi tuned dmax is faster IF he does have his tranny upgraded. I haven't beatin one yet, or a ppe tuned dmax. It all depends on the tune and what he's got just like every other race.
But just because you think his truck is faster..so what. Race him anyways, he still has to drive it right. Can't win em all brother.
my brother has an 06 dmax with efi live and and a suncoast stage IV and he will run off and leave me in a cloud of smoke. depending on who tuned his truck, good tuning will push the limits of his stock allison, and your truck with SCT tuned by eric will add more to the rear wheels than his efi live. but the difference is he has a dmax, which is already very very quick stock. we did a boosted launch in my brothers dmax with his efi before he had tie rod sleeves and we bent a tie rod the first time we tried to launch. if he doesnt have them expect to win because he will either spin in 2wd or break a tie rod, but i wouldnt expect to win if he can put together a good launch
oh yea... it definitely should. an 06 dmax with a built tranny and just efi should put down north of 500rwhp. a 6.0 with 190s, a 64mm and RR/fass should definitely beat that out.
The dmax is definately fast truck but it should be. Its probably a more powerful motor with efi live, and even at a crew cab is probably 800lbs lighter than your truck is.
Also I would hope that if you put 3500 into sticks and a turbo that you would be able to beat him. I would race him and enjoy it no matter the outcome
