SCT vs. Bully Dog

My buddy is ready to program his 07 6.0 and is set on getting a bully dog. I have told him to look into SCT and not let a Bully Dog go near his truck. He says he wants shift on the fly and "no body has ever heard of SCT". He dont understand that SCT is the best option, safer, best power for price, etc.

So what Im asking you guys is somethings I could tell him to sway the decision. Im a 7.3 guy so I dont know a ton about 6.0s, but he is very very uninformed on diesel engines.

Tell him the bully dog is a generic programmer while the SCT is going to be specifically tuned for his truck and none other. The program on the fly thing is cool but in all honesty he will not care about it after he has had it for a while. He most likely will damage his truck in the long run with the bully dog too (probably the tranny). Also tell him an SCT will blow the doors off a bully dog because it will. I have run both.

My bullydog in my 6.0 was a blast for a little while. Now I am having trouble with the tranny. It will not shift out of 2nd gear sometimes. Sometimes it will shift, but pauses. IDK, I personally am not all that happy with it anymore.
And the shift on the fly, is not really all that important to me. I use to change it from Economy Tow to Extreme and then back to Economy, until I figured out that it actually gets better milage when left in Extreme. If I were in the market for a chip now, I would do the SCT. Just my opinion.

You should just tell him SCT is the only way to go for his 6.0. Unless he wants to replace his tranny, and his head gaskets.

Well I see his buddies opinion kinda becuase before I joined the org and got some buddies I never heard of a custom chip and I ran Generic tunes.

I've had both and the bullydog doesn't com close to what the SCT can do. Some of the best options out there aren't known to the majority because those companies have spent more on product then on ad campaigns(which is both good and bad).

Thats all good stuff, thanks. Yeah told him about the generic vs. custom but he just doesnt seem to get it. Its always him saying, if SCT was so good all the trucks around would have it not banks, bully dog, superchips, edge, etc" I will have to log him into this site and other PSD fourms and show the difference.

For some reason in my area everyone thinks Edge is the end all programmer. It gets annoying. When people ask me what I have and tell them Tony Wildman tunes they always say, o should have got an Edge. Then I ask them if they know who/what tony wildman is and none of them know of him so Im not to worried about the edged trucks thinking they are the baddest.
