SCT Xcal2
I have a chance to pick up a used Xcal2 for a good deal. Would this be an ok option to consider rather than dropping so much on the newer version? Is there something major that is different between the 2 that I need to think about? The Xcal2 currently has 3 custom tunes on it, but if I do not like them I could always get newer tunes....correct?
I am new to this, so please help me out. |

As far as I know about the SCT yes you can reburn. May I ask what kind of deal your getting?

The guy has it priced at $200 right now. It has economy, street, and extreme street tunes on it. My biggest concern right now is if it will work with my truck. I am not sure what all of this strategy stuff is. I am completely new to diesels and programmers, so I am confused!

If they are the 3 canned SCT tunes they are general tunes that will work for any truck. Any custom tune that has a strategy associated its a sequence of 8-10 letters and #s so there are 1,000s of strategy codes so they willl not macth up.
The X3 really is just a newer bigger screen and loads a little faster, but I dont think you will be missing much getting an X2. If it was me I would try to get it for $150.00

Actually, it seemed to me to load slower then the old xCal 2s. Also you can do datalogging easier and better with the x3 versus the x2, but most people don't do that as a matter of course anyway. |

Xcal2 is still a favorite for me

I have seen both and if I could get a X2 for really cheap I would pass up the datalog.

The 3 tunes on it currently are custom tunes. I am guessing that means they will most likely not work on my truck. So basically all I would be buying is the tuning platform...correct? Therefore, I would have $200 in the programmer, and then $65-80 per tune that I want from Eric?
The way I look at it, I am still going to be around $400 for the xcal2 if I have to buy all new tunes. The X3 is $429 online. Which is the better route? |

The $429 price doesnt include Xtreme tunes. Just Eric's standard ones

Go ahead and get it, but make sure he sets his truck to stock and unlocks the SCT. You will most likely have to get new tunes, but reading your strategy is not hard. Once you get it, let us know and we can help get you going.
